Ireland student visa & Stamp 1G

Ireland's student visa process is straightforward. The Stamp 1G gives graduates 2 years to find employment — with no job offer needed at the time of application.

Student Visa Process
  • Apply for Irish Student Visa (Join Family / Study) online via AVATS system
  • Required: acceptance letter, proof of funds (€7,000+), private health insurance, IELTS 6.0+
  • Biometrics may be required depending on nationality
  • Processing time: 4–8 weeks; apply as soon as you receive your offer letter
  • Register with GNIB / IRP within 90 days of arrival in Ireland
Work Rights & Stamp 1G
  • Work up to 20 hours/week during term; 40 hours/week during holidays
  • No separate work permit needed — work rights come with the student visa
  • Stamp 1G (Graduate visa): 12 months for degree graduates; 24 months for Master's/PhD
  • Stamp 1G can be extended by 12 months if seeking employment in shortage sectors
  • Critical Skills Employment Permit available once in qualifying role
